CCTV Privacy Notice

How AaGlobal uses CCTV at our Hull office, how long we keep footage and your rights.

Last reviewed: 21st October 2026

About this notice

AaGlobal Language Services Ltd (“AaGlobal”, “we”) uses CCTV at the exit doors of our office. This notice explains what we record, why, how long we keep it and your rights.

AaGlobal is the controller of the footage. If you work for us, our Employee Privacy Notice also applies to you.

Where the cameras are and what they record

We have two cameras, one at each exit door of our office at Stonefield House, Hull. They record video of people using those doors, including staff, visitors, contractors and delivery drivers.

  • No audio. The cameras do not record sound.
  • No facial recognition. We do not use facial recognition or any feature that identifies people automatically.
  • Limited view. Privacy zones block out public pavements, neighbouring property and desks.
  • Motion-triggered. The cameras record when they detect movement, not continuously.

We do not use CCTV to routinely monitor staff, for example to check working hours, breaks or performance.

Why we use CCTV and our lawful basis

We use CCTV to:

  • protect our premises, equipment and information
  • deter, prevent and detect crime
  • keep our staff and visitors safe
  • investigate specific incidents, such as theft, a security breach, alleged misconduct or a health and safety incident

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): keeping our premises, people and information secure. We have assessed that these interests are not outweighed by the privacy of the people recorded. Our assessment is available on request.

If a specific incident occurs, relevant footage may be reviewed and may be used as evidence in an investigation, including a disciplinary process. We will not use footage for any other purpose without assessing it first and telling the people affected.

How long we keep footage

Footage is kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically.

If footage is needed for a specific incident, a legal claim or a request for footage, we keep the relevant clip until that matter is closed, then delete it.

Who can see footage and who we share it with

Only a small number of named, authorised senior staff can view footage. They view it only for a specific reason, such as an incident or a request, and every viewing is logged. Our Compliance team may see clips that have been exported for an incident or request.

Our CCTV system is provided by Ring (part of Amazon), which stores footage for us as our data processor.

Where there is a lawful reason, we may share footage with:

  • the police or other law enforcement bodies
  • our insurers
  • our legal advisers
  • our HR advisers
  • a person making a valid request for footage of themselves

We record every disclosure. We never post footage publicly or on community apps.

Transfers outside the UK

Ring may process footage in the United States. This is covered by UK adequacy regulations (the UK–US Data Bridge).

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access footage of yourself (a subject access request)
  • ask us to correct or erase footage of you
  • ask us to restrict how we use footage of you
  • object to us recording you, because we rely on legitimate interests

To request footage, please contact us within 30 days of the recording, as footage is deleted after that. Give the date, approximate time, which door, and a description of yourself so we can find it. We will respond within one month. We will blur or remove other people in the footage before releasing it.
