Recruitment Fair in Hull

AA Global recruitment open day will offer international communities employment opportunities on their doorstep.

We are going to mark the first anniversary of our arrival in Hull with an expansion programme which is good news in any language.

We are aiming to provide work opportunities for at least 100 additional translators, interpreters and support staff, starting with a multi-lingual recruitment fair next month.

Kirk Akdemir, Chief Executive of AA Global, said most of the roles will be for linguists but there will also be vacancies for translation co-ordinators, project managers and business development officers.

AA Global was launched in Worcester more than 25 years ago. The company provides translation and interpreting services to the public and private sectors and can call upon the services of more than 4,500 qualified and experienced linguists who cover more than 250 languages.

AA Global’s second UK office opened at Hull Marina last March and has helped the company expand its activities in the private and public sectors, with a permanent staff of around 15.

AA Global is a prominent supporter of the international trade department at the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, having played a lead role in trade missions to Poland and Turkey.

We have been providing translation services to public and private sectors in the area, including local authorities and parts of the NHS, for a number of years.

“We opened in Hull because we already had a significant volume of work in this part of the world and we have managed to build on that very successfully,” said Kirk.

“We are now at the stage where we need to strengthen our team with more people and more languages so we have decided to hold a recruitment fair.

We have attended general recruitment events in the past but organising our own is a first. The main focus will be on jobs in translating and interpreting, but we are also looking for admin and business development staff to support our Hull office.

The event will take place from 10am until midday on Saturday 23 March in the Prince Of Wales Suite at the Mercure Hull Royal Hotel in the city centre.

It is expected to attract an international gathering of candidates from across the region who will have the opportunity to meet staff from AA Global’s Hull and Worcester offices.

“We have picked a city centre location which is close to our Hull office and is convenient for people travelling to Hull from further afield,” said Kirk.

“We are promoting the event through different forms of media and through our own contacts in the various British and international communities throughout Yorkshire.

“We want to find out how people can help us and also show what we can do for them. We will also offer help with personal development, securing additional qualifications and building their own professional networks.”
